The design of the Lavell Residence embodies a sophisticated balance of aesthetic form and site-specific sensitivity. Perched on a hillside with breathtaking views of Mount Washington, CA, the building cascades down the slope, forming a dynamic interplay between its structure and the surrounding landscape while adhering to strict height requirements. The roof, a harmonious fusion of flat and "A" frame, is a superstructure, contributing to the loft-like aesthetic with its double-height space within the main level. Large windows and expansive decks allow for abundant natural light and foster a seamless connection between the interior and exterior spaces, embodying the relationship between architectural form and the natural environment.
