Venice Beach Home Series: PRAGMATIC IN FORM AND FUNCTION

Located in Venice's Silver Triangle neighborhood, the Cloy Avenue Residence is organized around a simple, open plan that makes efficient use of the site. The main living spaces are arranged in a linear sequence, allowing movement and natural light to extend through the first level of the house.

A central floating stair serves as the organizing element of the interior. It separates the front and rear portions of the house while connecting the main living spaces to the bedrooms above and the roof deck. By incorporating circulation directly into the living space, the stair becomes both a functional connection and a defining element of the interior.

The open plan creates a direct relationship between the living spaces and the exterior, while the roof deck extends the house upward and provides views across the Venice neighborhood toward the Pacific Ocean.

The design uses a compact footprint, clear circulation, and carefully placed openings to make the most of the site. The result is a straightforward and adaptable home shaped by the practical requirements of the site and the way its occupants use the house.
